I want to wish a Happy Fathers' Day to all the Dads out there this week. I haven't posted since Mothers' Day, so we have much ground to cover. Team Murphy has been busy....
...but we will start slow. Dad took a moment while on a water break from our Chastain walk to teach me the finer points of growing a 3-day beard. Step 1: Shave for work Friday. Step 2: Do not shave again until Monday morning. Thanks Dad....good info.
We loaded up the Murphy family truckster and headed down to Kiawah for Memorial Day Weekend with K and D. The beach was spectacular.
Dad and Grandpa D wanted to take it slow at first, so I played along...
...and I felt like I had to hold Grandma K's hand through each project...sand castles, digging a hole, filling a bucket with water. K eventually got the hang of each.
Finally, Dad manned up and we hit the surf.
Unfortunately for Uncle Skip's feet, he flew in for the weekend. I (naturally) buried his feet in the sand when he was not paying attention....deep...he may still be on the beach today, not sure. Good burying you dude.
Alright, it has been a couple of weeks, so the details are a bit foggy. Allegedly (key word), I woke up at 3:30AM and refused to go back to sleep. Mom and Dad claim to have begun packing our belongings at 4:30AM, and Team Murphy was supposedly wheels up at 5:45 AM -- back in the Dirty by lunch time. I'm not saying it didn't happen...rather, I am choosing to take the high road and not comment.
Fish-O-Rama 2010, Big Canoe
The next weekend, we headed up to BC for the 33rd Annual Big Canoe Fish-O-Rama. Stu, Dad and I got up at dawn and got a jump on the competition. It was a beautiful and quiet day on the water...sort of like we were the only 3 dudes for miles...
...not exactly. Wow, the Fish-O-Rama really brings a crowd. I plan to lobby for an invitational tournament next year. We skipped out on the tourney, grabbed a nap and then hit the lake for some goose feeding. The baby geese (goslings apparently) were as aggressive as a Woodruff Park panhandler on a sunny Spring Friday afternoon.
Dad is teaching me how to drive anything with a steering wheel....Boat - Check.
Last week, Mom and I hosted a play date for my neighborhood crew. We had a great turnout, and I can't wait until we all get together again.
Miss Meriwether was lovely as usual. We got some QT.
We had a lovely visit with my Great grandfather last week as well. He stopped in for dinner and a trip to Fat Matt's for lunch on his way back home. We ate, we laughed, and we ate some more...perfect.
Happy Fathers' Day again to all the Dads out there. Have a great weekend, and I will catch you dudes next time.
Adios...CDM
